My Land Rover 110 TD5 will not start. The starter motor (new) does not engage when the key is turned. Help !!!

did it start ok when you first changed the starter? does the starter make a whirring noise? if it does it means your starter is turning but the solenoid is not working, check the wiring on the starter has the wire to the solenoid come off?[the solenoid
