Is jet engine oil eatable?
I don't know if this is true, but someone told me that back in the 1970s the Soviet Union exported jet engine oil but the labels were all in Russian, and many people mistakenly used it as cooking oil. I find it hard to believe that such oil could be eaten
Many types of oil are both edible and useful for lubrication, but modern high-tech lubricants are only safe for the latter purpose. I don't know what Russian jet-engine oil was like in the 1970s, but presumably it was not fit for human consumption, as

I've been working gas turbines for 25 years now and they just don't make them like this any more. The days of Hydro Mechanical control systems are gone. Replaced by cables and digital technology. I don't regret the passing...... it makes my job so much easier.
