changing a filter cartridge in my fish tank?

So lately I've been reading about how my filter houses all this good bacteria.
So how often does this mean that i should change my filter cartridge?

You should never have to. Changing it regularly is a con on behalf of the tank manufacturers to get more of your cash!

If you have to change it (like it's falling apart and you need another) you need to clone it alongside the old one for
